Who Can Ride? |
| |
Enrollment of riders has grown to such a degree over
the past few years that NOTRA now needs to maintain a waiting list. Each
session riders are accepted on a first come first serve basis, so it is
important that registration forms, rider's package and fees be sent in as soon
after the opening date of registration as possible. |
| |
NOTRA welcomes individuals of all ages, with a wide range
of physical and emotional disabilities, including: |
| |
- amputees
- autism
- brain injuries
- cerebral palsy
- Down syndrome
- visual impairments
- ADD (attention deficit disorder)
- hearing impairments
- learning disabilities
- multiple sclerosis
- mentally challenged
- muscular dystrophy
- post polio syndrome
- spina bifida
- SCI (spinal cord injuries)
- others*
| |
*All disabilities need
to consult with their physicians before participating in therapeutic horseback
riding. |
| |
All
new riders must complete a Rider's
Package, including consent forms and a physician's referral before they can
be accepted for riding. |
