Volunteers

NOTRA depends heavily on volunteers to run the program.  It is our goal to be the very best therapeutic riding centre that we can be.  This being said, it is crucial that we have enough volunteers in order to effectively run the classes and provide optimum safety for the riders.  With the demand for our program consistently growing, the only thing limiting how many clients we can serve is the amount of volunteers that we can schedule.

NOTRA offers two 7 – 8 week riding sessions per year with a Volunteer Orientation prior to each session.  Volunteers are asked to commit to one morning or afternoon per week for the full session.

Volunteering opportunities are not limited to working with the horses and riders during the sessions.  Other areas where volunteers are greatly needed:

  • The Board of Directors
  • Grounds maintenance & repairs
  • Moving hay
  • Special events (such as our Ride-A-Thon and the IPE)
  • Smaller fundraisers (hot dog sales, raffles)
  • Refurbishing ribbons & trophies for the NOTRA riders
  • Maintaining the NOTRA scrapbooks and albums
